TIMO – Turkic International Mathematical Olympiad is an international mathematics olympiad created to give students the opportunity to challenge their knowledge and skills beyond the regular school curriculum.
The olympiad brings together students from different countries and cultures, turning mathematics into a bridge for communication, collaboration, and international exchange. TIMO aims to develop logical reasoning, analytical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. TIMO – Official Website
How is the Olympiad organized?
TIMO takes place in two main stages:
- The national or qualifying stage, organized in each country by the official partner;
- The international final stage, in which students who qualify through the national stage participate.
The tests are adapted according to the students’ grade and level. The questions are not designed merely to test the use of mathematical formulas, but rather require concentration, reasoning, strategic thinking, and creative problem-solving.
The qualification, evaluation, and award criteria are determined according to the regulations of the respective edition and in cooperation with the international organizers.
What do students gain from participating?
Participation in TIMO helps students:
- test their knowledge at a broader level;
- develop logical and critical thinking;
- improve their problem-solving skills;
- gain greater self-confidence;
- become familiar with the standards of international olympiads;
- represent Albania at the international final.
Students are evaluated based on their results and may receive awards and certificates recognized by the international organizers. The results and awards from the international stage can be verified through the olympiad’s respective platform.
Albania at TIMO
StarBalkans enables the organization and coordination of TIMO for Albanian students, supporting them throughout the registration process, preparation, national-stage participation, and attendance at the international final.
In the 2026 edition, the students who qualified represented Albania at the international final held in Baku, Azerbaijan, from July 2 to July 6, 2026.
